It's good, only for Firefox (and Opera?) browsers - not IE7, Chrome or Safari, so GIF animations are still more visible to users.

Unfortunately IE does not provide APNG support. But APNG is backward compatible with standard PNG format. Moreover the APNG support can be implemented even in IE by using JavaScript.
